Responsibilities:
· Provide reasoned and innovative inputs to the development of the supply chain & logistics design and execution strategy
· To be the authority on Chemicals & Gas shipping markets and provide commercial input to stakeholder
· Lead and participate in internal and external teams working on the delivery of fit for purpose marine services for specific projects
· Identify, define and deliver contracting strategies to meet the needs of the project including monitoring readiness for start-up, rectifying issues as they evolve and developing contingency plans
· Formulate/support development of negotiation strategies / tactics and conduct negotiations to deliver and meet agreed objectives
· Responsible for contracting and liaising with stakeholders to procure optimal shipping contracts\
· Sound understanding of contract history,risks,enablers,dependencies,barriers,opportunities & threats, strength & weaknesses, synergies and industry trends
· Good understanding of business requirements, constraints and models in order to align contracts with long term business objectives/activities
· Includes chartering of contracted routes, spot and covering other chartering desks in absence of charterer
· In depth knowledge and understanding of the various Contracts of Affreightment
· Guide and advise charterers on clauses, terms and principles
· Know the principles of industry specific practices, such as demurrage/laytime
· Establish clear information on freight economics and all related logistics cost.
· Know and implement nomination procedures. Understand laytime parameters and cost implications.
· Knowledge in documentation requirements and workflow. Be cognizant of risk exposure, title and Incoterm agreements
· Understand and use Quality Assurance clearance procedures
· Knowledge in cargo handling sheets (CHS) for vessel cargo suitability
· Be aware of facility/terminal design, restrictions and affiliated risk characteristics.
· Be able to effectively communicate contractual opportunities and constraints to stakeholder
· Agree and monitor service levels, standards and performance measures and participate in operational reviews
· Demurrage and claims management
· Be aware of product handling, quality and contamination issues relative to customer satisfaction. Be cognizant of global claims handling and prevention process
· Provide guidance to charterers and lead resolution of operational issues
· Understand Shell Group Shipping Standards and ensure compliance
· Understand aggregated HSSE MS critical activity alignment and safeguards to ensure compliance
· Minimize risks & gain HSSE leadership
· Understand roles and responsibilities in Marine Emergency Response (MER) process
· Understand HSSE MS RAM incident reporting/notification procedures and consequences,e.g. people, reputation risk,environmental,asset damage/loss
Requirements:
· Knowledge and understanding of shipping operations and supply/demand chain activities
· Marine chartering
· Knowledge in chemicals shipping market
· Knowledge in product handling requirements
· Experience working in a team and interfacing with numerous stakeholders
· Experience in negotiations with third parties and resolving conflicts
· Experience in Marine Charter parties and COAs
· Knowledge in Marine technical terms and operations
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· Ability to identify and exploit opportunities for freight and demurrage savings
· Good knowledge of spot market
· Spot chartering negotiating skills and knowledge
